Process + Palette
My works are inspired by the natural beauty of our country and the connections that bind us to it.A salient part of my work is infusing natural materials and textures into my work from locally foraged earths, ochres and other mediums.
I am drawn to the natural colours, tones and textures that are influenced by the earth; rich pindans, warm ochres and chalky clays. Growing up in the Kimberley and being surrounded by such formidable country, these are the colours of home. I also adore the feeling and residual texture these infused mediums leave behind when applied to a working surface.
I explore various techniques in my work such as scraping back multiple layers of medium and colour or making intricate marks, processes that can take a lot of time but form a part of the story behind each piece as I reflect on my own journey and connections that inspire me.
